A bit of history
Pharmia established in 1993 as the first company providing contract manufacturing services within the pharmaceutical and food supplement sectors in Finland. Pharmia’s operations were started by Managing Director and founder Tuulikki Harmia-Pulkkinen, two employees and one tablet and blister machine. By the end of the year, turnover was one million Finnish marks, and the number of employees had risen to ten.
1994 Pharmia starts to offer registration services for pharmaceuticals as the first company in Finland
1998 Export business to Taiwan was started. Turnover was ca. 5 M€/year
2000 Kari Pulkkinen started as Managing Director and Tuulikki focuses on business development
2001 Pharmia bought Orion’s pharmaceutical factory in Seinäjoki and established an analytical laboratory
2004 It was decided to focus on the development and manufacturing of food supplements and medical devices. The factory in Seinäjoki and expert services were sold
2010 Pharmia employs already over 50 people and turnover continues to grow
2013 A new product group, CE-marked medical devices, is launched. The daughter of Tuulikki and Kari, Pauliina Seeck, is hired to develop export business
2018 Janne Kostamo is appointed as Managing Director of Pharmia. Former CEO Kari Pulkkinen becomes the Chairman of the Board. Company’s turnover is over 16 million euros, with more than 90 employees.
2021 CapMan acquires a majority equity share in Pharmia.
2021 Petteri Laaksomo is appointed as Managing Director.
