Pharmia’s Third Sustainability Report: Progress for the Environment and People
The year 2024 was one of development and concrete action in Pharmia’s sustainability work. Our third sustainability report highlights the progress we’ve made in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, creating a safer working environment, and improving our packaging solutions.
Significant Emissions Reductions
One of our greatest achievements in 2024 was reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Our total emissions dropped by 19% from the previous year—and by as much as 23% compared to 2022. This was made possible by determined efforts to improve our production and supply chain.
More Responsible Packaging Development
We are actively seeking alternatives to virgin HDPE plastic, especially recycled materials. In 2024, we launched our PET project to assess the quality and suitability of recycled rPET plastic for our products and customer needs. Our goal is to shift to more sustainable packaging solutions—without compromising product safety or customer satisfaction.
A Safe and Supportive Workplace
We also made progress in occupational safety: the number of workplace accidents declined, and we continued investing in personal protective equipment, training, and facility upgrades. Additionally, we established the Pharmers team to promote staff wellbeing and workplace satisfaction.
Work Continues in 2025
In 2025, we will continue along the path that has proven successful. Our goals include meeting the demands of ISO 14001 environmental management standard, improving energy efficiency in collaboration with our property owner, and further developing our recycling solutions. We also plan to begin exploring the VSME reporting standard and assessing our key sustainability topics through materiality analysis.
We remain fully committed to our sustainability work to ensure our products are safe, high-quality, and aligned with our customers’ expectations.
